Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

As of now, I do not accept insurance. Therefore, please note that all fees are paid out-of-pocket and due after each session via the client portal.

Credit card payments are accepted, including Visa and MasterCard. Sliding scale arrangements may be available.

Do you provide super bills?

If you have an insurance, it may provide reimbursements for sessions with an out-of-network (OON) provider like me. In such cases, I can provide you with a super bill to submit for reimbursement or to apply towards your deductible.

Some services may not be reimbursable, even with a superbill. While I cannot guarantee or take responsibility for reimbursement, I encourage you to review your insurance policy for details about your out-of-network benefits. Many insurance companies provide step-by-step instructions and forms for submitting claims on their websites.

Also please note that I do not manage any communications with insurance companies. If your insurance requires records to process a claim, you must request them from me and submit them yourself. As a non-contracted provider, I do not participate in audits, claims justification, or direct correspondence with insurers. This could make the reimbursement process more challenging and may result in denied claims.

All fees are paid out-of-pocket and due after each session via the client portal.

What happens in a 15-minute consultation?

During our first call, we'll briefly talk about why you're seeking therapy at this time and discuss any previous experiences you've had with therapy. I'll also explain my approach to give you an idea of how I work, so we can determine if we're a good match. You'll have the opportunity to ask any questions, and if you'd like to proceed, we can schedule an intake session to get us started.

Do you provide in person or online therapy?

I provide virtual therapy within all of CA. Virtual sessions are held through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform accessible exclusively to clients. If you'd prefer an in-person appointment, please inform me, and I will share the necessary details.

Important note: I am licensed to offer therapy only to individuals who are physically present in California during the session.

What are your cancellation and missed appointment policies?

Late Cancellation Fees

A cancellation is considered late if made less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. While appointment reminders are sent as a courtesy, it is your responsibility to cancel on time to avoid incurring a late cancellation fee. Late cancellations will be charged the full session fee. In rare cases, a credit may be issued for emergencies; however, work-related conflicts do not qualify as emergencies. This policy also applies to unintentional missed appointments.

Repeated late cancellations may result in the termination of therapy services. Consistent attendance is essential for effective therapy. If your current schedule no longer aligns with your appointment times, please let me know and we'll figure an alternate option together.

Missed Appointment Fees

A missed appointment, or "no-show," occurs when you fail to attend a session without providing at least 24 hours' notice. In such cases, the full session fee will be charged based on the scheduled duration.

There are multiple ways to notify me of a cancellation— via text, email, or voicemail—except in emergencies. In limited circumstances, a credit may be considered for an emergency, though documentation may be required. Refunds will not be issued for missed appointments.

Please note that repeated no-shows may lead to the termination of therapy services.

What is considered to be an emergency in case of late cancellation or missed appointment?

For cancellations and no-shows, an emergency is defined as any of the following situations:

- You or an immediate family member are in the emergency room.
- A sudden illness affects you or someone under your care.
- You are involved in a serious car accident.
- You are facing a situation involving law enforcement or incarceration.
- A death has occurred.

What is the recommended cadence and frequency for ongoing therapy?

As we begin working together, I recommend starting with weekly sessions for at least the 3 to 6 months. This consistency helps build momentum and rapport, which are crucial for achieving your therapy goals. Nonetheless, we can also make biweekly sessions work if that suits your needs better. We’ll regularly assess session frequency and make adjustments as clinically appropriate. If you feel a change is needed sooner, please don’t hesitate to bring it up during a session so we can discuss it.

If you’d like longer or more frequent sessions, these options are available. Feel free to check out my services page and reach out for additional details.

Do you provide crisis intervention? What happens if I need to get a hold of you after office hours?

Unfortunately, crisis intervention is not something I can offer in a private practice setting. Non-urgent messages—whether emails, calls, or texts—will be responded to within 24 business hours.

If you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency or facing a situation involving a threat to your safety or the safety of others, please go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

If you are in a crisis, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline by dialing 988 or the Self Harm Crisis Text Line by texting HOME to 741741.

If your situation is not an emergency but requires additional support, feel free to reach out to me to schedule extra sessions.
